Fowl Mood Racing Suffers Engine Problems at Can Am and Brighton

What started out to be a strong season for Phil Potts and the Fowl Mood Racing team quickly turned for the worse as engine failures on both Friday night at Can Am and Saturday night at Brighton has certainly hindered the spirits of the Fowl Mood team. They have been working hard a securing another engine and plan to be back this weekend at both tracks.

The weekend started at Can Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, New York. In the qualifying heat race, Phil Potts drove the Fowl Mood Racing Late Model to the front of the field after starting fourth on the grid and he went on to win. In the feature, Potts started on the outside of the front row and was chasing down the race leader at one point when the engine expired and they were done for the night.

The following day, the Fowl Mood team was back on the track at Brighton Speedway looking for better results. They finished fifth in the qualifying heat race, and managed a third place result in the main event, but a blown head gasket resulted in another blown motor. A new engine will go in the car to finish the year out at Brighton Speedway, and the team has already secured a motor for the second car and are hoping to be ready for Friday night.

The next Go Nuclear Late Model Series race is at Can Am this Friday night, and as mentioned, the team is hoping to be ready in time. On Saturday night, they will be back at Brighton Speedway.

“I really have to thank Stu & April (Archer) for allowing me to drive these cars and the crew that work so hard each week in the shop and at the track. I also would like to thank our sponsors and all the race fans that come out and watch us race”.

Fowl Mood Racing would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. We would like to thank Hutchinson Fuels, Indewey Excavating, Vanderlaan Building Supplies, Bill’s Johns, Gord’s Water Service and Brighton Recycling Inc. for all their support throughout the 2014 racing season.
